Just in time for Pride month and perfect for a Third Thursday Gathering of Poetry, poet Danielle Coffyn shares a delightful short verse encouraging tolerance, acceptance and, yes, pride.
Why Pride?
Because somewhere
a child is a heron
in a sea of salmon
who encourage them
to convert wings
into fins.
Fish cannot teach
a bird to take flight.
So every June we flock
to the heavens
to remind them the sky
was never a sin.
