NLW 2026

National Library Week – an annual event since 1958 when librarians, trustees, library users, and even politicians celebrate the varied roles libraries play in individual lives and communities.  As a lover of libraries, I wonder why just one week, only seven days.  Why not an entire month dedicated to acknowledging libraries spark creativity, nurture young minds with storytimes, serve as community centers, and provide free access to books, media, and digital resources?  Whether a day or seven or more, there is JOY to be found at the library.
